Kindness, Beauty, and Truth

Lisa Ryan deer“The ideals that have lighted my way and, time after time, have given me new courage to face life cheerfully have been Kindness, Beauty, and Truth.”  Albert Einstein

We have many opportunities throughout the day to experience kindness, beauty and truth – yet how often do we miss these occasions because we are focusing on the unkind, the ugly and the untrue?

Kindness:  On our way to Cedar Point, we stopped at the store to pick up some Dramamine (for my husband, of course).  I ran into the store while Scott waited in the car.  A couple with a cart massively full of groceries was in front of me.  I smiled and asked if I could go before them, as I “had only one item and was paying with cash.”  Not only did they let me through, we struck up a conversation and they wished us a fun day.  A small, but very much appreciated act of kindness that started the day on a good note.

Beauty:  As we sat in our backyard late one afternoon, a family of deer came for a visit including two moms and three babies – still with their spots.  Instead of shooing them away because of the damage they have done to our yard already, we just enjoyed these gentle, beautiful creatures.

Truth seems elusive, as we try to sort through the vast amount of information which we are exposed to every day.  (After all, if it’s on the internet, it’s true, right?)  I have found that when I take the time to go into the silence and meditate, I am able to find my own truth, and my days are better because of it.

What can you do TODAY to find kindness, beauty and truth in your life?

Have fun,

Lisa

It’s the little blessings that bring us the greatest joy – when we take the time to notice them.
