Until one has loved an animal a part of one’s soul remains unawakened

IMG 3790 e1594930197665Chelsey was the first cat I adopted. I got him at a flea market – and it was appropriate because he was literally covered with them. (I named him Chelsey before I discovered he was a male.) I had Chels for 16 years and I never thought any animal could replace him. He was the best cat I ever.

Until Tinkerbell. Tinkerbell’s foster mom told me she was a “therapy cat” because she got along so well with whatever kittens or puppies she was fostering at the time. I didn’t realize that Tinker would be MY therapy cat! Honestly, I’ve never had an animal that shows me as much love as Tinkerbell. She sends me off in the morning and greets me at the door when I come home. When I come home from traveling, she won’t leave my lap. She has a huge part in my heart.

Granted, I don’t have kids, so my pets have always been my “furry children.” All of my animals have brought love, happiness, and fulfillment into my life. I don’t know what I would do without them. Whether you’re a “dog person” a “cat person” or every other kind of animal lover, why not give your beloved pet an extra scratch, rub or hug today?
