There are few finer excesses in the world than an excess of gratitude.

Like most people, you probably would like to have more – more money, more success, more vacations, and more time. You may also like to have less – less debt, less time spent cleaning the house, and fewer inches around your waist (or maybe that’s just me!). These lists could continue, and the stress of concentrating on both forms of lack will eventually drive you crazy.

What would it look like to have an excess of gratitude? Take a minute and think about that right now. I’m grateful for the money that I earn and the success that I experience while doing what I love; I’m grateful for spending time with my husband, visiting family and relaxing. I’m thankful for my debt, as much of it has been spent investing in my personal development; and although my waistline is not the same as it was 20 years ago, I’m thankful to be healthy and fit. Would I say I have an excess of gratitude? I’m not sure I’d go that far, but I’m working on it. I remind myself to be grateful for the things that I have, and I know that the things that I want will follow.

In what areas of your life can you pump up the volume of your gratitude? Whether you would like more of one thing or less of another, appreciate what you have right now. It’s the best way to get to experience the excess of gratitude.

Have fun,

Lisa

PS – Benjamin Franklin once said, “If a man empties his purse into his head, no man can take it away from him. An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.” I’m excessively grateful for investing in myself.
