“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek and you shall find; knock, and it shall be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and he who seeks, finds; and to him who knocks, it shall be opened.“ Matthew: 7:7, 7:8
Barb shares the power of asking for what you want. “My daughter and I went to the mall and had just a great time! When we got home that night she cried, ‘Mommy, I can’t find my purse.” I said, ‘It’s okay honey, it is only a purse.’ She explained, ‘No mommy, you don’t understand. It had ALL my money and my gift cards in it.’
“I felt bad, but there was nothing I could do for her other than to say I would call the mall in the morning to see if someone turned it in. I gave her a big hug and said that whatever the outcome, at least she learned something. Even though she felt horrible, I was grateful that it was only money. I released the outcome and felt a peace come over me. The next day, I called the mall and they did not have it. I felt an urge to call the last store we were in and they had her purse! Yea!“
Sometimes we confuse asking with begging. Barb’s story teaches us to ask for what we want (the return of the purse), and to be okay with the outcome – whatever it is. If you are begging for a specific result, let it go. Ask once for what you want to receive. Believe that your highest and best will come to you, and you’ll receive the gifts of knowledge, understanding and experience.
Have fun,
