Remember back in the day, if you wanted to see a friend, you had to walk to their house, get in a car or hop on a plane? Not anymore! By using the technology that’s available, you can keep in close touch with the people you love.
It started with the video phone, a pretty cool device from maybe ten years ago (or longer?) Scott and I would sit in the living room and have a conversation on the TV with his brother and sister-in-law in Vegas. Next came Skype, and Facetime and Zoom – the list goes on. When I’m traveling, I not only get to talk to Scott every day, we can say “goodnight” to each other in person – via Facetime.
Friends and colleagues are only a Zoom call away. The funniest part about those calls is the fact that my cat, Tinkerbell, must think I’m talking to her since there’s no one else in the room. She stays close during each conversation. Not all of her, mind you, just her tail. It makes me laugh and my friends enjoy her antics.
Don’t use distance as an excuse when it comes to your friendships. Stay in touch – face to face – so you can see the expressions of joy, laughter, sadness – whatever – and you can be there for each other.
