Merging Through Life and Traffic

Lisa Ryan Grategy driving“What if you gave someone a gift, and they neglected to thank you for it-would you be likely to give them another? Life is the same way. In order to attract more of the blessings that life has to offer, you must truly appreciate what you already have.” Ralph Marston

Let’s say, just for giggles, that you are sitting in traffic and another car is trying to merge. You slow down to let them cut in, and they don’t so much as give you a wave. How do you feel? Are you going to be as ready and willing to let the next person merge in front of you? Probably not.

How many times have you been the person who didn’t wave? Little courtesies make life better.

It’s essential to acknowledge the world around us when we are having a bad day. Isn’t it true that when we concentrate on our little miseries, things seem to get worse? There’s a snowball effect that is hard to define.  Our thoughts can either work for us or against us.

Next time you are having a bad day, or a bad moment, pause and come up with one good thing that you have in your life right now – even if the only thing you can think of is oxygen. No matter how bad you feel, there is always going to be someone who is worse off than you.

Strive to make all your personal interactions positive; you have no idea the snowball effect YOU can have to make someone else’s day.

Have fun

Lisa

Don’t forget to wave in traffic.  You and the person you waved to will get to your destinations in a much happier state of mind.
