“There are only two ways to live your life.

new monarch “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.” Albert Einstein

Some experiences don’t feel like miracles when you are in the midst of them, but they end up becoming the catalyst that turns your life around.  When we search for the miracles that make up our lives, we will find them – even if it’s not right away.

My first marriage ended after 1 ½ years and it left me with a tremendous amount of debt.  I was working a straight commission job and was going through a rough patch financially.  As I was unable to pay my bills, collection calls were a daily event.  I tried to think of creative ways to explain to my creditors that I had no money, but they didn’t buy it – they just kept calling.  How frustrating. I remember one time, I had $5.00 to my name, and I needed it to buy cat food (not for me, thankfully!)   As I purchased the cans of “sliced beef and gravy,” I realized that my cats were eating better than I was.  Ugh! That was a wakeup call.

The cat food incident turned out to be my miracle that turned my life around, as it made me realize the gravity of my situation. I took responsibility for my life and working through a consumer credit counseling agency, I got my debt under control.  I accepted a new job with a base salary and commission and I began to do very well at it.  I was finally starting to enjoy life on my own.  I went back to college and was the first person in my family to receive a degree.  All of this was possible because I looked at a tough situation and deemed it to be the miracle I needed to get back on track.  I then figured out what I wanted out of life, and took the steps necessary to achieve my goals.

Look back on one challenge you’ve had in your life and then consider the subsequent miracles that happened because of it.  Puts that experiences in a whole new perspective, doesn’t it?  Make the effort to search for the everyday miracles that happen as they happen.  It will make you realize just how many there are in your life.

Have fun,

Lisa

Why Recognition Matters: The Key to Retaining Top Talent

In a revealing study by the Workhuman Research Institute, 21% of employees reported never receiving recognition at work, and 33% felt overlooked in the past six months. Furthermore, a collaborative study between Gallup and Workhuman highlighted that over 50% of employees believe the appreciation they receive is neither authentic nor equitable, pushing them to consider new job opportunities. Yet, when recognition is genuine, its impact is profound: such employees are 56% less likely to seek other job opportunities and are notably more engaged and loyal. Effective recognition, therefore, isn’t just a kind gesture but a strategic tool that significantly influences #employeesatisfaction, #employeeengagement, and #employeeloyalty. The challenge for businesses is to ensure this recognition is consistent, sincere, and specific.
