The best way to predict your future is to create it.  Abraham Lincoln

Before I lost my job in October 2010, I thought I had a pretty good handle on my future.  Days in the field, selling to hospitals and surgery centers had become routine.  I made good money, enjoyed my customers, and was working on a couple side businesses, including a burgeoning speaking career.

When my job went away, I had a choice.  I could create another high level sales position – getting into the same routine with a different company and product. Once again I’d be making great money and enjoying my new customers.  I chose to create differently – and I could not be happier.

Has everything gone my way?  No.  Do I get frustrated?  Definitely.  Was it all worth it?  Absolutely!

Sometimes we are giving “opportunities” that don’t seem that we are given many options.  We look for the “blessing in disguise.”  What would happen if you stopped looking for the disguise, and considered everything to be a blessing?  It may not feel like a blessing right at the moment, but I guarantee that there will be SOMETHING that you can find to be grateful for about the situation.  When you start with gratitude, you can begin to create the future you want.

If you had all the time and all the money you needed to do anything you wanted, what would you do?  If it’s not exactly what you’re doing now, what actions can you take TODAY to move you towards the life of your dreams?  Challenge yourself to take a baby step today in the direction of your dreams.  Taking some small action may give you the momentum you need to continue and before you know it, you’ll be well on your way to creating the life you want instead of accepting the one that has been handed to you.

You already have everything you need inside of you to create the future of your dreams.
